About Royal LePage

Royal LePage real estate has been a pioneer of real estate services since 1913. The Royal Lepage name is recognized Canada-wide as a leader in the real estate markets in which we operate.

Royal LePage was created in 1913 by Albert LePage, a Canadian businessman. Albert LePage began a revolution the real estate industry in Canada by being the first agent in the city of Toronto to turn buying and selling homes into an accessible and professional business enterprise. He actively sought new clients through follow-up calls and visits, chauffered buyers from house to house by car and used descriptive ads in local newspapers; all of these practices have become industry standards today. He was also influential in establishing the Toronto Real Estate Board which raised the standards of the real estate industry in Toronto. By the time he retired from real estate in 1953, A.E. LePage had moved the company from just the residential real estate market and into home building and the subdivision and sale of land.
Albert E. LePage started his real estate career with a vision of what a company should represent: professionalism, high moral and ethical standards and principled conduct. Today, more than 95 years later, these principles still guide all Royal LePage agents in what we do.

How Royal LePage got to where it is today:

1955 - 1960 commercial real estate division developed

By 1967, A.E. LePage had branched out beyond the city of Toronto and by 1970, beyond the province of Ontario through a series of mergers and acquisitions of other real estate brokerages.

Between 1970 to 1976 LePage made further aquisitions to establish a residential real estate brokerage presence from Quebec to B.C.

In 1974, LePage ventured into residential real estate development with the incorporation of a company called Canlea Ltd.

In 1984, A.E. LePage merged with Royal Trust real estate brokerage and fee business, thus a new company Royal LePage was formed

Today Royal LePage is a publically traded company.
